TRAINING AND BEHAVIOUR

West Dorset; Cattistock, Maiden Newton and surrounding areas. ‍ ‍

I’m Lydia, the owner of Bridle&Bark; My lifelong journey with animals began with an unconditional love that has shaped who I am today. Having been driven since childhood by the desire to give animals the life they truly deserve, I have found that they have given me more in return than I ever could have imagined.

My approach is built on the belief that true behaviour change isn't about simply stopping a reaction; it’s about changing the underlying emotion that fuels it. Instead of suppressing a difficult behaviour, I focus on the root cause to ensure the animal feels safe and understood.

My work centres on building confidence and trust through thoughtful socialisation and obedience, helping animals navigate their world without fear.

Ultimately, my goal is to give back to the animals who give us so much by strengthening the bond between animals and their owners, creating a relationship rooted in mutual respect and lasting harmony.

This deep-seated passion eventually led me to formalise my expertise by completing a Level 3 Animal Management Extended Further Diploma. This intensive course provided me with a comprehensive foundation in animal physiology, behaviour, and rehabilitation, alongside essential knowledge in nutrition, health, biology and safety.

By combining this technical background with my hands-on experience, I am able to look at every animal through a lens of both science and deep empathy.

about me:

A free phone call will be provided with both Canine and Equine services to suit what needs, and the need to be fulfilled. Getting to know your’s and the animal’s daily routine and behaviours.

All clients must fill out a questionnaire though before the phone call. Depending on the situation a Veterinary Assessment by your qualified Vet of choice may need to be done for safety measures.

Please keep in mind that every animal has a different starting point and different learning speed, so it may take time for new behaviours to develop.
